BIBLES

BIBLES is een vierkoppige indie-synthpop band, opgericht midden 2014. Ondergedompeld in klanken van de jaren '80 wordt er een mix gemaakt met hedendaagse sounds. Hierbij worden energetische drums, hartbrekende baslijnen, melancholische melodieën en nostalgische zanglijnen tot een episch geheel gemengd. Beïnvloed door Vampire Weekend, Pavement, Future Islands en nog vele anderen komen er eigenzinnige, maar zeer toegankelijke producties voort. Het combineren van elementen uit de muziek van '80 en '90 met hedendaagse pop zorgt ervoor dat BIBLES een heel eigen sound voortbrengt. Werkend aan het eerste full album ziet het er voor BIBLES veelbelovend uit.

Max, Wouter, Siemon, Laurens. It was a challenge coming up with the most ungoogleable name ever, but they succeeded. BIBLES is the culmination of a teenage lifetime spent obsessing over the sound Waves made by such throw back indie luminaries as Lou Barlow, Stephen Malkmus, and Ian Mackaye.

The four friends have forged a bunker like underground studio/rehearsal space under Siemon’s parent’s house where they have hibernated whilst perfecting their musical craft. ‘Cynthia’ Is just a throwaway slab of angular electro indie pop fun. An appetizer of sorts which is meant to whet the appetite for the good and great which will follow.

They are also musical whores of a kind, who when not making biblical noise for BIBLES can be found in such eclectic musical vehicles as the unselfconsciously retro Spectors, or in the thoroughly modern Wooly.

These excursions into other band territory have always been about learning and growing. The Belgian underground music scene is a hotbed of young creative talent which is seemingly living in the same musical melting pot. Taking influences from everything in the pot and giving it their own little twist is what makes BiBLES one of the most interesting bands to come out of Belgium since the heady days of dEUS, Soulwax, and Das Pop.
